(trip to Proctor & Gamble)
On June 11, 2011, I met 24 of the most AMAZING students to step foot onto the YOU of A campus! They all came to the Business Leadership Academy to learn more about business and to get a head start on their professional careers. After less than 24 hours together, they started to gain so much more.I have never seen a group become so cohesive so quick. They were already forming bonds and cliques like they had known each other all their lives. There were many nights filled with laughter, fun, foolishness, and so much more.
"We're the 3 best friends that anyone could have!"The best part to come out of all this was my time with my friends Lauren (Coo7er) and Talesha (Thick Boo!). We were already close, but it's something about being locked in a dorm with 24 crazy students that will help you get closer! The students would keep asking "Are y'all best friends or something?", or "How long have y'all known each other?" Our answer would always be "We're the 3 best friends that anyone could have!" (And you HAD to sing it to get it right!) On week two, we got an addition to the staff, Lauren Wilson! The counselors were way more excited than the students, but I guess that's because we knew what L. Dub was capable of! All in all, I really appreciated those 3, They made my job as LEAD counselor easier!
But remember, this is still life. Everything is not all peaches and cream (although Krimson and Kream were def represented in that thang! ha). It's something about late nights and early mornings (waking up at 6:30 am or earlier) that could really make someone irritable. I sometimes found myself having a short temper with some of the unnecessary foolishness that was going on. I mean, if I ask for something to be done, how freaking hard is it to do it?! At times I felt I was coming off a little rude, but I assured them I was only being "stern" for their own good.
The Amazing Hand Walker!
He Should be a Scripper! lol
Alright for that SOULful singing!
Overall, I thank God for this experience. I had a chance to grow and to test my leadership skills. If I could do it all again, I would! I met some new people, made new connections, and became a new person.
